Implants prevent premature agingÂ
Dental implants maintain bone volume
Longer a tooth missing, greater the amount of bone loss
Bone loss causes you to look permanently aged
1- After evaluation, If a tooth is non-functional or causing problems, the next step may be to extract it. The dentist will use local anesthesia to numb the area and then carefully remove the tooth, being careful to preserve as much of the surrounding bone as possible.
2- The next step is to add a bone graft material to the socket. This can be done using various materials, including synthetic bone grafts, bone taken from another part of the patient's body, or bone from a donor source. The bone graft helps to fill in the socket and promote new bone growth.
3- The implant fixture, which is usually made of titanium or another biocompatible material, is then carefully placed into the hole in the jawbone. The implant is typically designed with a rough or textured surface to encourage the bone to grow around and fuse with it, a process known as osseointegration.
4- The implant will need to heal for several months to allow the bone to grow around and fuse with the implant. This process is critical to the long-term success of the implant and helps to ensure that it is firmly anchored in the jawbone.
5- Once the implant has healed and fused with the jawbone, the dentist can then attach the replacement tooth or teeth to the implant. This typically involves placing an abutment onto the implant, which serves as the connecting piece between the implant and the replacement tooth or teeth.
6- An impression of your teeth will be done to create a new tooth. The replacement tooth is known as the crown and will be attached to the abutment.
Here are some reasons why:
They are durable: Dental implants are designed to last for many years, often for a lifetime with proper care. They are made from biocompatible materials that fuse with the jawbone, creating a strong and stable foundation for replacement teeth.
They look and feel natural: Dental implants are designed to mimic the appearance and function of natural teeth. They are custom-made to fit your mouth and can be matched to the color of your existing teeth, giving you a natural-looking smile.
They prevent bone loss: When a tooth is lost, the jawbone can begin to deteriorate over time. Dental implants help stimulate bone growth and prevent further bone loss, which can help maintain the structure of your face and jawline.
They improve oral health: Unlike other tooth replacement options, dental implants don’t require adjacent teeth to be modified or removed, which can help maintain the overall health of your remaining teeth and gums.
They offer greater stability: Dental implants are anchored directly into the jawbone, providing a stable and secure foundation for replacement teeth. This can make them a better option than other tooth replacement options like dentures, which can shift or slip out of place.
Overall, dental implants are a highly effective and long-lasting solution for missing or damaged teeth, offering many benefits over other tooth replacement options.
